Polypectomy in Bakersfield

If you have developed nasal polyps that are affecting your ability to breathe, you may want to consider polypectomy at Bakersfield Sinus Center. We offer this treatment to residents of Bakersfield, Porterville, CA and nearby cities.

What is Polypectomy?

Polypectomy is a treatment performed to remove polyps from the nasal region. Nasal polyps are small growths of tissue that can form in the nose or in the sinuses, causing breathing difficulties or infections. In severe cases, they may even impact your sense of smell.

In the past, most nasal polypectomy procedures were performed surgically. In extreme cases, this may still be necessary. Bakersfield Sinus Center offers advanced solutions that don’t require surgical techniques. These solutions include Sinuva® and Dupixent®.

Why Choose Satish R. Vadapalli, MD for Your Polypectomy?

Dr. Vadapalli specializes in procedures involving the nose and the surrounding areas of the face. With over two decades of experience, he is an ideal candidate for performing polypectomy and related procedures. No matter what treatment you are receiving, you can always expect the attentive and personalized care for which we are known.

What is the Polypectomy Treatment Like?

Nasal polypectomy treatment will vary depending on whether we recommend Sinuva® or Dupixent®.

Sinuva® is a short-term implant that is placed inside the nostril. Its purpose is twofold. First, it opens up the nasal and sinus cavity to enhance air flow. This can provide an immediate reduction in breathing difficulties. Second, it delivers anti-inflammatory medicine that treats and eliminates nasal polyps. Sinuva® implants are typically removed after three months of use. At this time, the results can be evaluated to determine if further treatment is needed.

Dupixent® is an injectable treatment that is delivered every two weeks. The active ingredient in Dupixent® targets inflammation in the nose that causes and supports the formation of polyps. Over time, these polyps will shrink and fade away, enhancing your ability to breathe.

What is the Polypectomy Recovery Like?

At Bakersfield Sinus Center, our nasal polypectomy treatments are non-surgical, meaning recovery time is minimal. After both Sinuva® and Dupixent®, patients are able to return home and resume normal activities. You may experience minor soreness or discomfort from the treatments, but these effects typically fade within a day of treatment.

What Results Can I Expect from the Polypectomy Treatment?

The results from your nasal polypectomy treatment will vary depending on the type of treatment you receive. Sinuva® patients often enjoy a more immediate relief, with continued results over time. Dupixent® patients will have to wait a few weeks before they begin noticing results from treatment. In any case, after nasal polyps are eliminated with polypectomy treatment, your results should be long-lasting.
