Ear Tubes Treatment in Bakersfield

When children develop frequent ear infections or other issues due to a fluid buildup in the ears, ear tubes may be are happy with both the appearance and function of the ears. We welcome patients from Porterville, Bakersfield, CA and neighboring cities.

What is Ear Tube Surgery?

Ear tube surgery is a procedure in which small tubes are inserted into the eardrum. With ear tubes inserted, there is an open airway between the inner and outer ear, preventing the buildup of fluids. Ear tubes are often recommended for children who suffer from frequent ear infections or a buildup of fluids behind the ears. These symptoms can cause problems with hearing and speech development, so ear tubes are a simple solution that can facilitate a child’s healthy development without significant downtime or side effects.

Why Choose Satish R. Vadapalli, MD for Your Ear Tube Surgery?

Dr. Vadapalli specializes in procedures involving the ears, sinuses, and the surrounding areas of the face. With over two decades of experience, he is an ideal candidate for administering ear tubes and  performing related procedures. No matter what treatment you are receiving, you can always expect the attentive and personalized care for which we are known.

What is the Ear Tube Surgery Treatment Like?

Ear tube surgery is usually performed with general anesthesia to ensure a patient’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. Once anesthesia is administered, Dr. Vadapalli will make a small incision in the eardrum. If the patient is currently experiencing a buildup of fluids, these fluids will be drained out prior to the insertion of the ear tubes. Once complete, the ear tubes will be inserted into the small incision made in the eardrums. This procedure is typically completed in less than an hour.

What is the Ear Tube Surgery Recovery Like?

After an ear tube surgery, the recovery period is relatively insignificant. Your child may experience some minor soreness or sensitivity, but these effects tend to fade within a few days. A few weeks after the initial procedure, we’ll see the patient again for a follow-up procedure to ensure that the ear tubes are still in place and functioning properly.

What Results Can I Expect from Ear Tube Surgery?

Ear tube surgery will produce results immediately, although many of the significant benefits will take a few weeks to develop. For example, your child will have a lower risk of ear infections and will benefit from improved hearing and speech development in the future.

Ear tubes typically fall out on their own within a year of treatment. In some cases, they will need to be removed in-office. We’ll monitor the condition of your child’s ear tubes during follow-up appointments in order to determine the best course of action.
