What is the Balloon Sinuplasty Treatment Like?
The balloon sinuplasty treatment is performed using either general or local anesthesia. At Bakersfield Sinus Center, we perform this treatment in-office for your convenience. To begin treatment, a small tube is inserted into the nasal canal. Once the tube reaches the opening of the sinuses, a balloon will be inserted through the tube.
We will slowly inflate the balloon, opening up the sinuses. With the sinuses expanded, we will drain out mucus and other fluids. Once this is complete, the balloon is removed and the sinuses will continue to drain naturally. This procedure typically takes about an hour to perform.
What is the Balloon Sinuplasty Recovery Like?
The balloon sinuplasty procedure is brief and minimally invasive, so you can expect to return home after your treatment. You’ll be able to return to most, if not all normal activities within one to two days of treatment. During this time, it is common to experience congestion, drainage and tenderness in the sinuses.
